# Teen work rules in Connecticut

In Connecticut, you can start most non-farm jobs at 16. You need a work permit until you turn 18 (from school (local superintendent&#39;s designee)). At 14 and 15 you can work up to 3 h on a school day, 18 h in a school week, 40 h in a summer week. 16- and 17-year-olds also have hour limits.

## Recent changes

- 2023-06-28: Public Act 23-183 allowed 15-year-olds to work as youth-camp staff or lifeguards (supervised by someone 18+, during school vacations; age certificate needed unless employed by a municipality).
