# Teen work rules in New Hampshire

In New Hampshire, you can start most non-farm jobs at 14. You need a work permit until you turn 16 (from School (principal or designee); a parent or guardian for some youth (e.g. home-schooled)). At 14 and 15 you can work up to 3 h on a school day, 18 h in a school week, 40 h in a summer week. 16- and 17-year-olds also have hour limits.

- Minimum age: 14
- Work permit: required under 16
- Hours at 14–15: 3 h on a school day, 18 h in a school week, 40 h in a summer week
- Hours at 16–17: limited

## Recent changes

- 2022-06-17: SB 345 (Chapter 221, Laws of 2022): school-week limit for enrolled 16–17-year-olds raised from 30 to 35 hours, with the 6-consecutive-day limit and the 4-day-week tiers removed. The youth night-work restriction (RSA 276-A:13) and special-agreement section (276-A:14) were repealed. 14-year-olds may now clear tables at alcohol-licensed restaurants.
