Kumon's hiring age policy
Kumon centers are independently owned franchises, and each center owner hires its own assistants and graders. Many center postings say high school students are welcome (some ask for juniors or seniors), but none of about 40 US center postings we checked in September–October 2026 (on SimplyHired, in states including TX, CA, NJ, MA, GA, NC and FL) states a minimum age, so check with your local center.

Questions
How old do you have to be to work at Kumon?
Kumon doesn't publish a minimum age for its entry-level jobs, and the postings we checked don't state one. Your state's law sets the floor.
Does Kumon hire high school students?
Often, yes. Many Kumon center postings for graders and assistants say high school students are welcome. Some centers ask for juniors or seniors (about 16–17).
Can a 14- or 15-year-old work at Kumon?
We couldn't find a posting confirming it. Each center owner decides, and your state's work-permit and hours rules for under-16s apply. Ask your local center directly.
What does a Kumon grader do and how much does it pay?
Graders check worksheets with answer keys, record scores and help keep the classroom running, usually after school. Postings we saw in fall 2026 paid about $8 to $22 an hour, depending on the center and state.
